Life comes at you fast boys and girls! I was thoroughly inspired and kept coding for a bit, but the sleep deprivation is real! That and I have been dealing with some inner ear issues that have laid me up. That being said, I am finally getting some free time again. Also my deep dive into diablo 4 is over. That being said, there have been several new developments. I setup a facebook page, and then got bogged down in quests. They were much harder to setup then anticipated. I am still trying to iron out somethings, but I have setup an Inn where the first quest to kill 10 skeletons was complete. Then I moved onto setting up the first main quest line. This took some creativity, and since its my first, its probably not the best, but I think its a dang good start for the game. I will iron things out more in future betas. That being said I started implementing these quests and realized I hadn't set up material generation yet. So I have started that dive, but it needs refining. To get back into the swing of things though I have reworked the beginning area to help players starting out. There will be a mix of that happening. Since I have developed in so long I am also running into things being deprecated now. So major updates to packages will have to occur. From this site, to the API's, AWS setup, to unity and the game itself. All take time, but I am super eager to get back into it. So many fun things to develop!

Things have been wild! I will break this up between two segments personal and development

Personal life wise, I have had my first child. He came unexpectedly early, and we were completly unprepeared. We have been redoing our kitchen, and everything was thrown about the house. About a week or two before had our baby shower so nothing was unpacked yet. It was just a normal checkup visit and my wifes blood pressure ran high which caused her to be induced. With a long labor and some bumps with him and her, we are finally all home and healthy. Since then we have been stablizing, trying to get things setup for our kitchen and the little one. I haven't had much time for development or anything else unfortunately.

Development wise: I have been trying out Notion for notes and developing backstory, and trying out AI to get a specific tone of voice for the game and fix my grammeratical errors in it. I have also finally figured out a great name for the game, and have just changed over the website. With that I can start up social media posts. Its a wild time in my life and I am not sure how it will go but I want to make an attempt. As for the other changes. I have started building up BUILDINGS! First up was the teleportation assembly. A way to mark a place you have been and teleport back to it. To say help a friend, or visit a cool location! Next up was a players home. A place to rest their head and heal and store their items. I also implemented a spell vendor that has a couple currently but is a building block for future random spells to be listed in him, and a way for folks to get additional spells and test drive them. As for spells I have been attempting to come up with names, and will be working on creating some new ones in the future. First will be the Inn though to be able to further develop the quest Line. I have been developing the story line, and one of the base building blocks would be having the Inn to deal out smaller quests. For where else does one get the news but over a pint?

Discovered Notion which is amazing. I have been filling out details for the game and doing some world building. To start I have gone through different names for the project, first being magical world, next Wizards Clash. I leaning towards a new one as I develop the world and flesh it out more to create a beginning quest line and intro to the world. After a recent chat with a friend. Until now I have been focused on the games building blocks. I still want to tighten up some fundamentals, but more importantly now I want to give the game interest. Develop its unqiue features. Give it the magic behind it. Make the game fun! This will be the fun part for me.

With the release of the friends beta, and gathering feedback I started implementing a lot of little enhancements. There is still more on the list but the easy to accomplish are complete. The list is no longer scrollable which is great! Also moving forward I have implemented the base merchant, and created a peaceful town. So folks are able to buy and sell items. Still to come are buy and sell spells! Right now they can only be gathered from bosses. More bosses shall be coming soon.

Phew! It was a wirlwind! The game was first released to friends! It was an exciting time for me. Got a lot of feedback and learned of only 1 major bug. The feedback was mostly a list of different enhancements! So many more things to add its exciting!

Attempted to release the game to friends but turned out the game size was to big! Exciting and yet rough. I needed to figure out how to package content outside the base package. I finally figured it out, and needed to do a lot of rework, but fixed a lot more bugs along the way. I still have more learning and setup for that, but I was able to get the bundle size to be uploaded to google play. Thus the first closed beta will begin today or tomorrow.

Continued adding content and stabilized build according to roadmap. Adding more creatures and monsters then expected with so much more I can and will include! I am moving forward with my first beta for friends to get feedback. While this is going on, I will be creating new abilities, dungeons, and balancing. The base game has been created which is excellent! I am excited that I am now moving into features and expansion! With a base stable game I will start releasing more content after the friend beta and start posting about the development more on social channels. Maybe explore tiktok if it isn't shut down.

Went on a journey to competely change the direction of the game. I originally designed things to be 2d, but I believe it would look better overall being 3d, and being able to wonder around the world your in. One of the biggest issues with other go games is you want to move but also play. This causes folks to run into things, and not perform either task well. I believe I have created the solution to this, but also make the game more engaging then what it was previously bringing it up to 2023 standards. I have started rewritting the code overall to use better coding methods. Luckily I can reuse some of what I have already used. The next steps is to design the first 10 minutes of game play.

I began implementing markers in the web service side. This will allow a user to telport to a certain area that they have marked in the past. All done via a spell, and currently they will need to have a teleportation building. Its been implemented but still needs testing.

I created a patreon located: here!

I forgot to keep this up to date! Whoops! With gaining knowledge on 3d objects I went and ordered a 3d wizard! He looks awesome! I will need to update this site for it. I have started converting the font styles, and backgrounds from pixelated, to more modern look.

Through June I decided to dive intro training and learning how to create a tower defense game in Unity. This opened my eyes more to 3d objects, animations, effects, and rekindled my spirt.

Got married, went on a honeymoon and caught covid so took a bit of break on development. Now I am reoganizing notes and what to address next. Gearing up for next stage of development. Going to go hard this summer and I am pumped!

Got Https working for the website!

Created spell foundry in the api's to be able to sell spells. Also setup to regenerate inventory of spells.

Still looking into ssl on website

Fixed being able to upload this site to you all! Updated the consumables name generation and added some unit tests.

Fixed naming with items that have camelCase enums, made it so generic quest items aren't generated as a random item. Corrected weapon and armor power generation Started building up consumables like potions. Need to flesh them out more and test more.

So I set up this page but didn't use it, which was a fault of mine. I know there is a huge gap but there has been a lot of changes. Everythig built previously was to make sure it was possible! Now the fun part comes for flushing everything out! First was world building. Developing the back story, how spells work, why there is a conflict and so on. There is so much more to think through here and I am so excited to go through this! Along the way I the major change is developing random items. The last thing I worked on was fleshing out items. Starting with armor and weapons and how to randomly generate them based on your level and monster. Still a bit more work to go but I am loving the task.
